Fresh off the success of IRIS, Kim So Yeon headlines the SBS drama Prosecutor Princess from the director of Brilliant Legacy. The popular actress takes a 180-degree turn from her IRIS image to play the titular heroine, a flighty but kindhearted prosecutor whose work plays second fiddle to fashion. Kim So Yeon received a lot of love for her charming performance, as did charismatic leading man Park Si Hoo (Iljimae) who made audiences swoon as the mysterious, dashing lawyer with a devilish smile and a hidden agenda. Airing in the same competitive timeslot as Cinderella's Sister and Personal Taste in spring 2010, Prosecutor Princess attracted solid ratings and an especially passionate fan following.
Ma Hye Ri (Kim So Yeon) isn't exactly your average public prosecutor. Hailing from a wealthy family, she dresses to the nines, and leaves office right on the dot to get in her shopping time. Soon she finds herself being politely shuffled to the corner by her colleagues, including her super serious superior Se Joon (Han Jung Soo, Chuno) whom she has a crush on. Hye Ri wants to prove herself to Se Joon and her other doubting colleagues, but her efforts often lead to trouble. Fortunately, lawyer In Woo (Park Si Hoo) keeps showing up in random places and swooping in to rescue the princess in distress. In Woo has his own reasons for helping Hye Ri, but his plans become muddled when he begins to fall for Hye Ri.
Love, forgiveness, justice, and the perfect pair of high heels are just a heartbeat away in the delightful Korean TV drama Prosecutor Princess, another audience favorite from the creators of Brilliant Legacy and My Girl.
Hye-ri (Kim So-Yeon, The Grand Chef, All About Eve) is a prosecutor whose natural talent and intelligence play second fiddle to her flighty princess airs and fashion obsession. Soon she finds herself being politely shuffled to the corner by her colleagues, including her super serious mentor Se-joon (Han Jung-Soo, The King & I). Hye-ri wants to prove herself to her doubting colleagues, but her efforts often lead to trouble. Fortunately, In Woo (Park Shi-Hoo, What Planet Are You From?), a mysterious, dashing lawyer with a devilish smile and a hidden agenda, keeps showing up in random places and swooping in to rescue the princess in distress. However, In Woo’s plans become muddled when he begins to fall for Hye-ri.
“An unforgettable drama. (It) had me giddy at every episode, crying at every melodramatic moment, and laughing at every joke!” - Dramabeans
Ma Hye Ri is a woman with an excellent memory and ability to focus, which allowed her to pass the bar exam with ease. Despite her talents, she is more interested in being fashionable and dislikes hard work so she is far from being an ideal prosecutor and has doubts about her suitability for her job. Through her conflicts with senior colleages and struggles with difficult cases, however, Hye Ri gradually matures into a brilliant prosecutor with a sense of duty and justice.
