Thanks to its everywoman protagonist, My Lovely Sam-Soon has been billed as Korea's answer to Bridget Jones. Kim Sam-Soon (Kim Seon-Ah, who gained 15 pounds for the role) is a Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef who doesn't conform to the stereotype of the typical K-Drama Cinderella. Sam-Soon won't let men push her around, will eat and sleep her way out of a depression, and could care less how other people see her. But the unthinkable occurs: Kim Sam-Soon meets a Prince Charming named Hyeon Jin-Heon (Hyeon Bin). Storyline
This is a refreshing romance comedy about Kim Sam-soon (Kim Sun-ah), who is a plain and chubby girl with a tendency to eat food when she becomes stressed. After getting dumped by her boyfriend, she meets Hyun Jin-heon (Hyun Bin) who owns a restaurant. He has a crippled leg due to a car accident three years ago. Not only did the accident leave him crippled, but he also lost his wife and older brother.
Despite the fact he has a "girl" friend, Yoo Hee-jin (Jung Ryu-won), he asks Sam-soon to be his girlfriend instead. When Hee-jin finds out that Jin-heon has fallen for chubby Kim Sam-soon, she is appalled. Hee-jin soon becomes Sam-soon's rival for Jin-heon's heart....
