About Genealogical Record
Tany, who is a Japanese youth working at the 1st section of Kyunggi Province Government, takes the charge of "changing Korean name to Japanese name". He visits a town of family name of Seol, in which the oldest grandson of Seol Jin-Young is stubborn Korean. He is impressed by Seol Jin-Young's humanity, his daughter's (Ok-Sun) beauty and Korean's spirit to keep genealogical record, so that he feels conflict. Seol Jin-Young rejects to change his name to Japanese style name to let his daughter be brought to compulsory labor work and break marriage appointment, so that he is rejected by other relatives. At last he is forced to go to Myun (the smallest government unit) office and sign the agreement to change names of all family. But he declines to sign the agreement to revise his name, and then returns to home and write down in the genealogical record the reason why to reject, and then commits suicide.
