Kim Deok-Pal lives his life as a scamp at his young age because of his father's dissolute life. He loves Ko Seon-Mi and wants to live fresh life, but fails to do so and is assaulted. After his father dies, he begins to be a scamp again to support his stepmother and half blood younger brother. On day he fights with the ones who assaulted him, and hide himself at a church to avoid the police's chase. The clergy man informs the police to let Kim be arrested, which makes him hate religious men. Later, being impressed by the clergy man's humanism, he changes himself completely according to the Bible. After being released from the prison, he starts a new life as an evangelist.
