About Ming-liang Tsai
Born in Kuching, Malaysia, he graduated from the Drama and Cinema Department of the Chinese Cultural University of Taiwan and worked as a theatrical producer and TV director. His second feature film _Vive l'Amour_ won the Golden Lion (best picture) at Venice ('94).

Born in 1957 in Malaysia, Tsai Ming-Liang moved to Taiwan in 1977 and graduated from the drama department of Chinese Cultural University. After graduation, he quickly established a reputation with a series of experimental plays. He made his critically acclaimed debut feature, Rebels of the Neon God in 1992. He has become one of Taiwan's most important directors with his films Vive L'Amour(1994), The River(1996),The Hole(1998). Vive L'Amour won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival and both The River and The Hole were invited to the Pusan Internationl Film Festival.
